In theory, we all know it, there are billion of quotes on this topic, but it’s quite a different thing knowing it on the rational level and feel it instinctively, get that “click” and see that all you want to do is do-able, there is literally NOTHING and no one to stop you. There is enough time to do everything you want to do. But! If you are being wasteful with your time, acting like there is unlimited amount of it, you just might be in problems. Time is valuable stuff, so are you making sure that you are using yours on right people and activities?
How to know whether you’re investing your time on things that matter to you?
Make a list! I did it, like, year ago and instantly saw the benefits of it. Put down on a piece of paper people and activities that you are profoundly fond of and that have the positive influence on your energy. The important thing is to be honest. Per example, I used to regularly go for a drink with some people that I spent lots of time with when younger, but as time passed, we’ve both changed and like...there wasn’t so much keeping the conversation up than old memories. And the most important thing, after those “catching-ups” I felt shitty, energy levels drained and I just realized it is not what I want to do with my time. You outgrow people, develop yourself and it’s fine and normal. Memories won’t fade away and don’t feel bad the next time you put down that invitation and decide to take a drink with your brand new friend from uni who just happens to be equally obsessed with _________________ as you are. Give yourself some space for new adventures and experiences. You can’t do that if your schedule is filled up with holdings-onto-past and people who are friends of you ex-self, not yours anymore.
When I cleaned up the list of people I used to hang out with for no reason other than habit and being too polite to say no, I found myself facing the beautiful amount of time to be invested in things that I enjoy, being it running for 30mins longer, take an evening walk in nature alone or lying half day on the grass with a friend, relaxing and enjoying good company.
Guys, make a list, put your priorities in order and make your days something you’re excited and enthusiastic about! ;)
Lots of love,
Maja
