I know how it is: lying on the beach, trying to relax and think about nothing while your brain just keeps going on and on with new ideas and projects for your business. It might not sound that bad but the truth is that we actually NEED some proper rest to regenerate and function even better afterwards. So, why not try out some tips and get the most out of your holidays?
~Get active~
Personally, I find it hard to deeply relax and empty my mind while doing nothing. So, I try to do as much as I can! I fill up my schedule with energy-boosting activities that I find pleasant, like: running, swimming, hiking in nature, yoga stretching etc. Moving your body can make miracles to the mind as well!
However, if you don’t feel like getting physically active, there are plenty of other activities that require focusing and can help you to let off the steam: reading, crosswords, playing cards with loved ones, knitting, drawing etc. Just find the one that does it for you!
~Keep a journal~
Writing a journal on the daily basis can be a great way to keep your thoughts and mind clean. You can do it as soon as you wake up or before going to bed. That way, you organize your thoughts into words, spit out all that chaos on the piece of paper and leave it there, fresh and clear for the new holiday adventures that wait around the corner!
I like to keep my journal at the hand reach so I can make some notes if any idea pops up while I’m chilling under the sun. Writing it down immediately, I am relaxed because I know I saved it somewhere and can stop over-obsessing with remembering it and calmly continue the activity instead.
~Meditate~
Thinking constantly about past and future while rarely being actually present in the Now is common problem of human race. However, all that happens happens - now. Meditation helps us getting our minds and spirits to that point by switching our awareness to the Present. Is is hard in the beginning, so don’t be to harsh on yourself. You can start with meditating 5 minutes in the morning and then again 5 minutes in the evening. The aim is to be fully aware of all that the present moment offers you: sounds, scents, flavors, reactions in your body etc. You don’t have to do anything - just be there and observe (oh, and that is the most difficult, trust me!).
Try out these tips and find what works the best for you, because you deserve that holiday after working so hard the whole year! And remember: resting doesn’t mean wasting time and being lazy, it is just recharging that will enable you to be even more amazing and successful afterwards.
